ABOUT THE BAND

In 2003 Director of Percussion Adam Mason joined the Faculty of Fine Arts.  Immediately Adam started up the Global Drums group using his own supply of steel pans and African Drums.  His enthusiasm caught the interest of both students and the community, and the group quickly grew to 50 members.

Global Drums performs exciting traditional music from around the world on authentic instruments.  The group consists of advanced and beginning Steel Bands, Taiko Ensemble, African Drum and Dance Ensemble, Samba Ensemble and the Concert Percussion Ensemble.  The group consists of primarily music majors as well as people from all parts of the university and community.  We perform with large and small ensembles throughout the entire year at summer festivals, corporate events, conferences, schools, fundraisers, and private events.  We also tour internationally including several trips to the southern and eastern United States and this summer to Japan.
